Afiction
2006 –
All four band-members are still friends today. Will there be a second album?
In 2006, Jason n Chris get connected somehow and start sharing their musical talents and song ideas.
Josh looks in the local Chico Craigslist, and sees an community post about a heavy melodic hard rock band needing a singer.
Josh calls and they all agree to have Josh head over to the stinky college apartment.
Chris and Jason are there, and Chris breaks out a jam on his acoustic guitar in the living room, asks me to sing to it.
While Jason is tappn a beat on the coffee table, Josh decides to bust a melody and some random lyrics.
Josh leaves after a few fist bumps and a “welcome to the band.”
About a week later, Charlie gets recruited because he’s mellow, kind, and a legit bass player.
We all had a lot of energy, and needed a place to vent and get loud. And I mean, really loud.
Fall 2006, Afiction – The first live show happens at Nicks Night Club, and after about 30 shows in Chico, the band decides to record their first album in “Pops” garage.
The album was recorded track by track, with some cheap equipment and lot’s of dust. Chris took a lot of time on the mix, and made it sound pretty sweet though. Thank you, Chris. It was officially released in October 2013.
We would also have acoustic shows for venues and house parties that wanted it.
Writing the lyrics and melodies for this band was such an honor. They are all talented musicians, and I didn’t need to play guitar so it made gave me a lot of freedom to sing and let go.
Hopefully, before I die, I’d like to kick out at least one more album with these dear brothers.
